Okay. First off, I would like to apologize for not updating this blog with our game results from the EKU series a few weeks ago. It was a sore subject (we lost 2 of the 3 games) and I was busy with school related items! Anyways, the weekend of the 24th/25th we had our last fall series against University of Cincinnati and ended up winning that series! In game one Miltko started on the mound and held UC to no runs until the 6th inning, where they scored only 1. It was a little bit of a slow day for both teams offensively but the Lauren's must've had something special in their cereals that morning because they were the only two who crossed the plate (twice each) to earn us 4 runs total. Lauren Anderson was 3/3 at the plate with 2 doubles and one single! Unfortunately we only had 6 other hits besides Anderson's 3 (2 from Johnson, 1 from Creps, 1 from Patten, 1 from Bulger, and one from Rosenston). Have no fear though, we ended up winning 4-1 with great defense and pitching all around!
Game 2 was on Sunday and lets just say if you get sad easily, you shouldn't read this next paragraph. Back to back triples from UC started the 1st inning and the rally didn't end there. They ended up scoring 7 runs in the first inning before we even got a chance to hit! Miltko came up to bat second in the 1st inning hitting a solo homerun that scored the only run of the game for us. There were a good amount of singles hit but we were never able to get the runners in when needed. Defensively, we held UC off for 3 innings until they scored 4 more runs in the 5th inning. This got them to the run-rule number and the game ended in 5 innings with Miami losing 11-1.
Welcome back to all those emotional people who couldn't read the last paragraph. Game 3 we came in with a new mindset ready to make up for what we lacked in the last game! Although UC scored 3 runs in the first inning, we had 3 back to back hits by Klimczyk, Miltko, & Johnson to start the first inning off strong. We only scored 1 run that inning but there still was a ton of game left to play! In the 2nd inning, we held UC to no runs and had yet another 3 back-to-back hitting streak from Klimczyk, Miltko, and Johnson. Johnson and Klimczyk both had doubles and Miltko got her 2nd home run of the day, 4 runs scored this inning! She is now tied with Patten for first in our conference for homeruns (both with 2), way to go guys!!! Cohen and Anderson contributed to the hitting streak in that second inning as well. UC ended up scoring 2 runs in the next inning but we scored 3 more, allowing us to take the lead 8-5. UC scored 2 more runs in the 4th, making the score now 8-7 but more hits and more hits and more hits allowed us to score 3 more runs in the 5th inning! This took our lead to 11-7 (UC scored 3 more runs in the 6th/7th inning). We came out victorious with a final score of 11-10 and a series win for the Redhawks! Shout out to Sadie Cohen for being 4/4 that last game with 3 singles and a triple!
Can't emphasize enough how thankful we are to have such awesome and supportive fans for coming out to our games! This was a great fall season for us and we hope to come back in the spring even better! Thank you to those of you that take the time to read my posts, I am open to any suggestions you may have for me in the future. See you in the spring!
